The past couple of weeks I’ve been out and about town, literally, doing random errands and sort of rediscovering this city that I live in. I commute, so I don’t exactly have the safety and the detachment that a car provides — therefore I got to see life happening in a much closer perspective than if I traveled inside my own vehicle. One hot and sweltering afternoon in the dirtier side of downtown Pasig I had to wheedle and (there is no other term for it), as it is said in Filipino, magpacute to get what I wanted done. I had, for lack of a better word, an epiphany in the unlikeliest of places, in the unlikeliest of times.
